📜 History & Significance

The Annapurna Circuit is widely regarded as one of the world's greatest treks, circumnavigating the entire Annapurna massif through an extraordinary range of landscapes — from subtropical rhododendron forests and terraced rice paddies to the high-altitude Tibetan plateau of the Mustang region.

The route has been walked by pilgrims for thousands of years, most notably to reach Muktinath Temple (3,710m) — one of the most sacred sites in both Hinduism and Buddhism. Muktinath is one of the 108 Divya Desams (sacred Vishnu temples) and holds immense significance for Vaishnava devotees. The eternal flame and sacred water springs at Muktinath are believed to grant moksha (liberation).

The crossing of Thorong La Pass (5,416m) is the physical and spiritual high point of the journey — a test of endurance that rewards trekkers with panoramic views of the Himalayas stretching to the horizon.
