📜 History & Significance

The Manaslu Circuit is one of Nepal’s most spectacular and least-crowded treks, circumnavigating the world’s eighth-highest mountain, Manaslu (8,163m). The name “Manaslu” derives from the Sanskrit word “Manasa,” meaning “intellect” or “soul” — a mountain of profound spiritual significance in Hindu and Buddhist traditions.

The route passes through the Manaslu Conservation Area, a restricted zone that requires a special permit, ensuring the trail remains pristine and uncrowded. The upper reaches of the circuit enter the Tsum Valley — a hidden Himalayan valley of extraordinary Tibetan Buddhist culture, ancient monasteries, and sacred pilgrimage sites that remained largely unknown to the outside world until the 1990s.

The crossing of Larkya La Pass (5,160m) is one of the most dramatic high-altitude crossings in Nepal, with sweeping views of Himlung, Cheo, Kangguru, and the Annapurna range stretching to the south.
